Rubem Valentim is considered one of the greatest artists of African-Brazilian Culture. Driven by ideological views, he researched in African popular culture features that ended up guiding his work until the end of his life in paintings, sculptures and objects. He synthesized the elements present in Candomblé cults, as oxês of Xangô on geometric objects, in linearity. Rubem Valentim created a kind of writing for these elements, a new signografy, an semiotic art, which promotes a deep reading, synthetic and skillfully colored African-Brazilian identity.
