Luis Hidalgo was born in 1981 in Mexico City. He received his Bachelor in Fine Arts in La Esmeralda, 2003, Mexico City. The artistic production of Luis Hidalgo has focused on drawing, painting and in collaborative projects with other artists in order to generate a constant feedback. In 2004 presents the installation Lo que no explica la vida lo explica el fuego in the space E21 Contemporary Art. In 2005 Preservación de forma y equilibrio in collaboration with Pablo Rasgado for the alternative space Casa Emergente, Cuernavaca. He participates in the Art Frankfurt fair with the Galerie Ruta Correa as part of the collective exhibition Sommer 2005: México in Freiburg, Germany. In 2007, he is part of Sueño de una noche de verano, a project of artistic interventions, Centro Cultural Muros, Cuernavaca. With Minerva Ayón and Luis Nava presents in 2013 Vacancy for the Collective Culture Gallery, Mexico City. In ... March 2014 he presents his first project around digital media ARTIFICIAL PULSE at Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles, CA. In June he is part of the Paddles ON!, Phillips London, an exhibition and auction that brings together artists who are using digital technologies as an artistic practice in the contemporary art, curated by Lindsay Howard. January 2015 is part of the exhibition SPACE PROGRAM at the gallery Steve Turner Contemporary, Los Angeles, CA. And from November 2015 to March 2016 participates in the exhibition Después del edén. Arte en Cuernavaca 1974-2014, curated by Andrea Torreblanca, at La Tallera, Cuernavaca, Mor. Since 2001 he has collaborated with Magali Lara in curatorial and digital animation projects. His animations have been included in exhibitions at La Muse en Circuit, Paris; Jumex Foundation, Mexico City; El Cubo, Tijuana; Recoleta Cultural Center, Buenos Aires, and Museo Amparo, Puebla. Lately, Hidalgo has been interested in observing how the media and electronic devices behave and affect traditional techniques in the artistic production, approaching the constant discussion over their uses and applications. He currently lives and works in Cuernavaca, Mor., México.
