El Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) fue creado en el 2011 para aumentar la visibilidad del arte latinoamericano a escala global. Desde sus inicios, ISLAA juega un papel internacional en el fomento y la promoción de la investigación sobre arte latinoamericano. ISLAA patrocina CONFERENCIAS Y SIMPOSIOS impartidos y organizados por reconocidos historiadores, artistas contemporáneos y estudiantes de posgrado. ISLAA también apoya PUBLICACIONES, incluyendo textos académicos, catálogos de exposiciones y libros de artistas, además de EXPOSICIONES de vanguardia sobre arte latinoamericano moderno y contemporáneo. ISLAA también cuenta con un equipo interno de diseño dedicado a la creación de PÓSTERS que sirven como testimonio tangible y perdurable de las actividades en curso en el campo del arte latinoamericano. Como parte de sus esfuerzos por preservar el legado de los artistas de las Américas a través de distintos soportes, ISLAA se complace en presentar la serie de películas 270. Basados ... en entrevistas a artistas latinoamericanos, estos cortometrajes de autor contribuyen a difundir y preservar la memoria cultural de sus artistas. ISLAA también tiene el honor de ser el custodio del legado de Jaime Davidovich. El fallecido artista conceptual, nacido en Argentina y basado en Nueva York, fue un pionero del arte vinculado a los nuevos medios y su relación con el público. Bajo la supervisión de ISLAA, la Jaime Davidovich Foundation se enorgullece de promover y administrar el archivo y la vasta colección de obra del Sr. Davidovich. -------------------------------------- In June 2019 the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) announced the archive loan from the Estate of Sarah Grilo and José Antonio Fernández-Muro to ISLAA. Both, international figures of Post-War abstraction, their work integrates signs, symbols and language within painting, and it dialogues with the cityscape. The archive contains items that pertain to Grilo's and Fernández-Muro's life in Buenos Aires, New York, Paris and Madrid, and cover the decades from 1950s to 1980s. The materials include vintage negatives, photographs, slides, press clippings, and exhibition catalogs, and they represent the artists' experimentation with different painting styles. The archive is currently in its first phase of preparation and is still being researched. ------------------------------------------------------------------- In June 2019 the Institute for Studies on Latin American Art (ISLAA) announced that the Estate of Nikolai Kasak has chosen ISLAA to house the portion of his archive that pertains to his involvement with Arte Madí movement. The loan will span a period of five years. Nikolai Kasak was a Belarussian-born Concrete Abstract artist who was based in New York and had ties to Latin America, particularly Argentina, through his participation in the Arte Madí movement. This archive contains several types of materials including photographs, posters, exhibition announcements, publications, and correspondence between Kasak and other artists from Latin America and the Caribbean. In addition to acting as a custodian of his legacy, ISLAA is proud to promote Kasak’s oeuvre and place him within the broader context of mid-century Latin American art. Currently, this archive is in its first phase of preparation and is still being researched.
