Descripción del Premio
El fotógrafo español, con base en Londres, Jordi Ruiz Cirera (Barcelona, 1984) ha resultado ganador del Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize 2012 por su imagen Margarita Teichroeb , que retrata a esta joven boliviana de 26 años perteneciente a una comuna menonita de Bolivia. Cirera quedó finalista de esta edición junto a los también fotógrafos Jennifer Pattison (Hertfordshire, Reino Unido, 1978), segundo premio por Lynne, Brighton , un retrato de su amiga Lynne, que es parte una serie de retratos desnudos; Spencer Murphy (Kent, Reino Unido, 1978) tercer premio por Mark Rylance , un encargo para la portada de Telegraph Magazine; y Alma Haser (Selva Negra, Alemania, 1989 - reside en Reino Unido) cuarto premio por The Ventriloquist , retrato de Luke y James, dos amigos del sur de Londres. El jurado de esta edición ha estado integrado por Sandy Nairne, Director de la National Portrait Gallery, en calidad de ... presidente; Emma Hardy, fotógrafa; Lauren Heinz, Director de Foto8; Glyn Morgan, socio de la firma Taylor Wessing LLP, Sean O Hagan, crítico de fotografía del Observer y el Guardian; y Terence Pepper, Comisario de Fotografía de la National Portrait Gallery. El jurado ha seleccionado 60 retratos entre los 5.340 recibidos por 2.352 fotógrafos, que serán exhibidos en una exposición, del 8 de noviembre hasta el 17 de febrero, en la National Portrait Gallery, de Londres. 1 | Photographers

- must have been 18 years of age or over on 1 January 2011

- can submit up to six photographs

- previous winners of the Prize, since and including 2007, are not eligible to enter the competition.

- must write their name, address, daytime telephone, email address and title of work (indicating if it is part of a series if relevant) on the back of each photograph

- the photographer or their representatives warrant that they are fully authorised and entitled to enter into the agreements contained in these rules, in respect of all rights in the work including ownership, copyright, moral rights, the rights of the people (via 'model releases', for example), names, trademarks, designs or works of art depicted in the photographs, and that no further permissions or conditions are required to deliver these agreements

- the photographer or their representatives agree that the photographs submitted may be exhibited as part of the Taylor Wessing Photographic Portrait Prize exhibition at any venue

- the photographer or their representatives agree unconditionally that the National Portrait Gallery may reproduce any exhibited photographs for the purposes of marketing, promotion, discussion and education in direct connection with the Photographic Portrait Prize and exhibition, in all media worldwide including the exhibition catalogue and subsequent publications, posters, postcards, the Internet and within television documentaries, and may license these specific, limited rights to others only for the same purposes. The Gallery also reserves the right to reproduce selected images for core non-commercial purposes, for example in the Past Exhibitions page of the Gallery website, indefinitely, as a public record

- the photographer will be credited for the use of their work, wherever practicable, as the Photographic Portrait Prize exists in part to raise the profile of the exhibiting artists

- the photographer or their representatives agree that the Gallery is entitled to pass on the contact details of the photographer or their representatives to the exhibition sponsor, Taylor Wessing, solely for the purpose of enabling Taylor Wessing to make enquiries about purchasing or commissioning photographs from the photographer

- The responsibility for damage or loss, however caused, is the responsibility of the photographer. Photographers are therefore advised to arrange adequate insurance cover against such risks. The sponsor, the touring venues or the National Portrait Gallery shall not be liable for any loss or damage, whether or not caused by their negligence

- Employees of the National Portrait Gallery and sponsors are not eligible to enter the Prize

 

2 | Photographs

- must be the photographer's own work

? must be portraits. 'Portrait' may be interpreted in its widest sense, of 'photography concerned with portraying people with emphasis on their identity as individuals'

- must have been taken after 1 January 2011. Photographers must, if required, show proof of the date on which the photograph was taken

- can be black and white or colour

- must be unmounted and on paper no smaller than 420 x 297mm (A3 size) and no larger than 1015 x 760mm. The image may be smaller than the paper size

- must be submitted in transparent protective sleeves in order to protect during judging

 

3 | Delivery

- all photographs, whether delivered in person, or by post/courier, must be received by Friday 3 August 2012. Proof of posting will not be accepted as proof of receipt

- entrants who deliver their photograph(s) in person during 23 July - 3 August will be given receipt of entry at the time of delivery

- entrants whose payments cannot be cashed will be disqualified

- all debit/credit card details must be completed and the expiry date must be at least two months after the date of entry

- all costs incurred by postal/courier services (including customs charges and any import duties) must be paid for in advance by the photographer. The National Portrait Gallery will refuse to take delivery of any work that may incur charges to the Gallery

- The delivery/collection point address will be provided once the registration process is complete. Photos should not be delivered to the National Portrait Gallery as they will not be accepted.

 

Delivery Dates

Delivery dates for delivering work in person by post or by courier: Monday 23 July - Friday 3 August 2012

(09.00 - 17.00 hrs only)

 

Delivery at any other time will not be accepted.

 

4 | Judging

- The decision of the judges is final and no discussion or correspondence can be entered into. The judges reserve the right to vary the prizes or not to make any award

- The entire competition is judged, on an equal and anonymous basis, from original prints. We have reviewed our judging guidelines in the last year and provided judges with procedures relating to the process, the judging and conflicts of interest

- Photographers will be notified of the judges' decision by email or by post by Tuesday 21 August 2012. It is the Photographer's responsibility to contact the National Portrait Gallery if s/he has not received notification by that date

 

5 | Collection/return - Unexhibited photographs

- Unexhibited photographs may be collected by courier (if arranged and paid by the Photographer) between Tuesday 21 August and Friday 24 August 2012, 09.00 - 17.00

- Unexhibited photographs may be collected in person from Tuesday 28 August to Friday 31 August 2012, 09.00 - 17.00. Please note that MONDAY 27 AUGUST IS AN ENGLISH AND WELSH BANK HOLIDAY AND THE SITE WILL BE CLOSED

- Provided the photographer has included sufficient return postage in UK stamps on entry, photographs sent from within the UK will be returned to a UK address

Collection Dates

Please note that any works remaining at the collection point after 31 August 2012 will be disposed of without prior notice
