In a new partnership with the Fundação Bienal de São Paulo, the Museo de Antioquia is holding the last stage of the programme of travelling shows of the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo – Affective Affinities, an exhibition that received 736 thousand visitors at the Bienal Pavilion, in Ibirapuera Park, between September and December 2018. The show in Medellín will feature about 40 artworks by artists including Antonio Ballester Moreno, Feliciano Centurión, Katrín Sigurdardóttir, Matt Mullican, Mauro Restiffe and Sofia Borges.
The travelling exhibitions of the 33rd Bienal de São Paulo were conceived by curator Jacopo Crivelli Visconti – who is the chief curator for the upcoming Bienal – as new experiences in relation to the original project developed by the chief curator of the 33rd Bienal, Gabriel Pérez-Barreiro. The exhibition held in São Paulo by Pérez-Barreiro consisted of a set of elements: the general concept of the exhibition; the seven...different shows organised by seven artist-curators; the individual participations of the artists invited directly by the chief curator; and moreover the relationships that were created along all these instances.
