Dadamaino (Eduarda Maino, Milán, 1930 – Milán, 2004) tuvo una trayectoria artística influenciada por diferentes movimientos y corrientes que surgieron en la Europa de finales de los años cuarenta. Es evidente su acercamiento al espacialismo y la influencia de grupos como ZERO en Alemania, Equipo 57 en España o Azimuth en Italia, en los que participó activamente. Pronto, acabaría creando su propia línea de investigación artística mientras desarrollaba...un creciente interés por el activismo social y en especial por el movimiento feminista italiano en el que, desde 1968 se implicaría abanderando numerosas manifestaciones.
A partir de 1958 amplió la noción de espacialismo iniciada por Fontana, convirtiendo el vacío de aquellos Conceptos Espaciales en Volúmenes. La serie de los Volume de Dadamaino consiste en lienzos recortados de una forma imperfecta que generan una espacialidad volumétrica muy característica de su obra. La artista se nutre de una sensibilidad científica y un gusto por la realidad matemática permitiéndole desarrollar reflexiones analíticas y modelos estructurales que permean su investigación. Su serie Volume acabó dando paso a una línea de trabajo centrada en la vibración óptica. En sus últimos años, su obra se tornó más silente y delicada, con piezas donde los trazos se acercaban más a la idea de ritmo y de lenguaje que a la matemática y la lógica. En sus Constelaciones, la cuestión del espacio cobró especial importancia.
Dadamaino: 1930 – 2004. Dal movimiento alla proteste mute toma su título de una respuesta de la artista italiana en 1980 durante una entrevista con Francesco Vincitorio: “Mi limito, ancora una volta, a delle proteste mute”. El título, de alguna forma, recoge el carácter cambiante y mutable de la carrera de la artista, las muchas líneas de investigación que abrió durante su trayectoria y el cambio vital que puede intuirse desde sus primeras obras, mucho más relacionadas con el color, el movimiento y la búsqueda de la Luz, a su última producción, mucho más silenciosa, elegante y conceptual. También subraya su dedicación por el activismo político y feminista. Así, la exposición pretende reivindicar su papel dentro del arte y el activismo político, así como mostrar la visión poliédrica de la artista.

Dadamaino (Eduarda Maino, Milan, 1930 – Milan, 2004) had an artistic career influenced by different movements and art tendencies that emerged in Europe in the late forties. Her approach to spatialism is evident in her work and the influence of other groups such as ZERO in Germany, Equipo 57 in Spain or Azimuth in Italy, in which she actively participated. Soon, she would end up creating her own line of artistic research while developing a growing interest in social activism and especially in the Italian feminist movement in which, since 1968, she would be involved in numerous protests.
From 1958 she expanded the notion of spatialism that Fontana had initiated, turning the emptiness of those Concetto spaziale into Volumes. Dadamaino’s Volume series consists of imperfectly cut canvases that generate a volumetric spatiality that is very characteristic of her work. The artist draws on a scientific sensibility and a taste for mathematical reality allowing her to develop analytical reflections and structural models that permeate her research. Her Volume series eventually lead her to a line of work centered on optical vibration.

Dal movimiento alla proteste mute takes it’s title from an answer takes its title from an answer given by the Italian artist in 1980 during an interview with Francesco Vincitorio: “Mi limito, ancora una volta, a delle proteste mute“. The title, in a way, reflects about the changing and mutable character of the artist’s career, the many lines of research she opened during her career and the vital change that can be sensed from her early works, much more related to color, movement and the search for The Light, to her latest production, much more silent, elegant and conceptual. It also highlights his dedication to political and feminist activism. Thus, the exhibition aims to show the vision of a multifaceted artist, activist and thinker.
