Liste Art Fair Basel announces exhibitors for 2023
Liste is delighted to announce the participating galleries of Liste Art Fair Basel 2023. This year, 88 galleries from 35 countries will welcome visitors from 12–18 June in Hall 1.1 at Messe Basel. With artworks by over 100 artists, 66 solo and 18 group presentations, and two joint stands, the galleries will present the latest voices in contemporary art.
“For the past few years, artists seemed to have taken inward-looking gazes as their starting points, but this year we’re noticing a reversal to outward-facing gazes,” says Joanna Kamm, director of Liste. “With immersive installations, timebased media, AI and computer-generated images, as well as strong positions in painting and photography, they highlight how differently the world is seen when experienced from different perspectives, under different conditions and in different places. We are very excited to see the works by this sharp-eyed generation of artists at...Liste Art Fair Basel 2023.” The full list of this year’s exhibitors can be found at the end the media release. Information about the participating galleries
One of Liste’s special concerns is to give new galleries the opportunity to present their programmes to our international audience every year. This year, 20 galleries are exhibiting for the first time at Liste Art Fair Basel, including Parc Offsite, Eli Kerr from Montreal, Petrine from Paris, E.A. Shared Space from Tbilisi, Schiefe Zähne from Berlin, Blindspot and PHD Group from Hong Kong, wanda from Warsaw, Blue Velvet Projects from Zurich, Afriart Gallery from Kampala, Ginny on Frederick from London, Margot Samel and Theta from New York, and Regards from Chicago.
Basel, 15 March 2023 Equally, Liste looks forward to reuniting with 68 galleries that have exhibited in previous year(s), especially Nova from Bangkok and ROH Projects from Jakarta, who will return after pandemic-related hiatuses. We would also like to specifically mention the return of two galleries from Kyiv, The Naked Room and Voloshyn, as well as the Ukrainian collective Understructures (presented this year by the gallery wanda), all of whom also exhibited last year at Liste as part of our solidarity support.
Liste Showtime Online
Liste Showtime, the digital edition of the fair, launches this year with a VIP/press preview from 7–11 June and runs until 25 June. With media-rich presentations, our galleries not only offer works for sale on the platform but also provide deeper insights into the practices of one artist who they are presenting at the fair. You will receive an access code for Liste Showtime shortly before the preview starts.
Friends of Liste
This year, Friends of Liste is financially supporting 12 galleries with particularly elaborate presentations as well as the Ukrainian exhibitors. About Liste
Since 2021, Liste has consisted of three formats: Liste Art Fair Basel, Liste Showtime Online and Liste Expedition Online.
Founded in 1996, Liste Art Fair Basel is the international fair for discoveries in contemporary art. Every year in Basel, a younger generation of galleries shows artists who are outstanding representatives of the latest developments and trends in contemporary art. Many of today’s most significant galleries for contemporary art laid their foundations at Liste.
Liste Showtime Online, the fair’s digital format, was launched in 2020 and offers the galleries participating in Liste Art Fair Basel the opportunity to expand their presentations in the digital space.
Liste Expedition Online was launched in December 2021 as a non-commercial research forum. The platform features a continuously growing artist index with the world’s most important new positions in contemporary art as well as special projects carried out in collaboration with artists and magazines. Liste Expedition is permanently available throughout the year.
