Descripción de la Exposición

The exhibition Veronica heralds Rita Ferreira’s most recent work, large-scale modular paintings to be shown on Rialto 6’s ground floor. Symptomatic of a practice that constantly scrutinises the forms and possibilities of painting, Veronica offers us multiple liquid, expansive images. Besides clearly pictorial elements, the recourse to glass (as a surface that reflects and refracts light) permits a certain broadening – an unfolding – of painting’s visual field. It offers us a cinematic experience. On the one hand, the reflections – of the space, of we the visitors, the light, and so on – convey a kind of ‘out of body’ experience of painting; on the other, the work is just one – and only one, among so many other possibilities – montage of images (i.e, ‘frames’). In other words, a sequence.
