Currently he is the art director of the new festival IMAGO LISBOA, Portugal. Rui Prata began his professional career as a history teacher and has been the Director of Braga Image Museum since its opening in 1999 to 2015. He was the founder (1987) and artistic Director of Encontros da Imagem Photo Festival – until 2013. Since 1990 he has lectured on contemporary photography throughout Europe and in Brazil, and acted as a curator for both national and international exhibitions. In 2008 he became a member of the Committee Acquisitions of Maison Européenne de la Photographie, Paris. Prata is a portfolio reviewer for several international festivals. Rui Prata has a degree in history from Porto University, a postgraduate degree in Fine Art Direction from Escola Superior Artistica do Porto, and a Master degree in Curatorial & Contemporary Museology from Porto Fine Arts University.
