The Gibellina Museum of Contemporary Art, born in 1980, is housed in a wing on the ground floor of the comprehensive "Pope John XXIII" Institute. It houses a collection whose spearhead is the great cycle of nature by Mario Schifano. Works by Scialoja and Rotella, Corpora and Corona, Afro Basaldella, Beuys and Consagra, Accardi, Isgrò, Sanfilippo, Fontana, Guttuso and Pirandello are on display, just to name a few of the largest and best known. In this museum there are about 1900 pieces of great value made by hundreds of artists, including paintings, graphics, sculptures and sketches.
