From 30 May until the end of July we are presenting a selection of print editions made by Polígrafa of Carlos Cruz-Diez, Luis Tomasello, Matilde Pérez and Yaacov Agam. Carlos Cruz-Diez (Caracas 1923) is considered, along with Jesús Soto, Alejandro Otero and Juvenal Ravelo, one of the greatest exponents of the kinetic movement in Venezuela. For him colour is not only a pigment attached to a solid surface but also the resulting circumstance, both the projection of light on objects and the sensation of motion. He also brings to his work the way in which this same light is processed by the human eye. His work has been the subject of exhibitions at the Museo de Arte Contemporáneo de Caracas (1974), The Museum of Modern Art in México (1976), The Josef Albers Museum (1988), The Museum of ... fine Arts, Houston (2011), among many others. Luis Tomasello (Argentina 1915) after studing fine arts in Buenos Aires traveled to Paris where he came into contact with The European avant-garde and above all with the abstract Constructivism of Mondrian which was based on geometry as a key element for artistic reflection as it deepened the effects of light and color as generators shapes. This new approach led him to evolve into kinetic art and he was represented by the avant-garde Denise René Gallery. In reference to his work, notably the introduction of the relief essential in integrating the effects of the reflection of colors, his works has been exhibited in many other museums and institutions such as: Museum of Buenos Aires (1962), Musée National d'Art Moderne Paris (1976), Museum of Contemporary Art Madrid (1981) and the Haus Ludwig museum (1996). Matilde Pérez (Santiago de Chile 1920) has been considered the maximum exponent of kinetic art in Chile, her contact with the works of Vasarely in 1960 was fundamental to leaving figuration and instead focus on geometry. Mathematics, line, plane and color become the cornerstones of her work without never neglecting feeling or intuition items deemed by Matilde Perez keys at the time of start or finish a work. The work of Matilde Perez has been exhibited in many spaces of great recognition of Contemporary plastic art including: Museo de Bellas Artes (Santiago de Chile (1999), La Casa de las Américas La Habana (2009) or the Matilde Perez 'The eyes that plays' retrospective held at the open art space of the Itaú Foundation Santiago de Chile (2010). Yaacov Agam (Israel 1928) is considered one of the pioneers of kinetic art. After having studied the philosophy of colour and Spiritualist Constructivism of the Bauhaus, his creative interest focused on breaking the boundaries of disciplines and incorporating the factor of time in their research. To date Agam has not stopped experimenting with more diverse media including those offered by new technologies. His work has been the subject of numerous retrospective exhibitions in museums and institutions all over the world a highlight being The Museum of Modern Art in Paris (1977), The Guggenheim Museum New York (1980) or Foundation Art and technology of Telefonica os Spain (1997).
