Taepyung Salt Farm X Boggle Mansion seeks artists to submit entries for the juried exhibition, ‘Art Like Salt.’ The winners will be chosen to participate in a residency program in Shinan, designated a ‘Slow City’, in South Jeolla Province, South Korea, with the opportunity to create work in any of the following formats; painting, drawing, photography, video, installation, sculpture, or sound with the theme of ‘Rising and Receding.’
2025 Theme : Rising and Receding
When does art intervene in reality, and when does it take a step back?
At times, art dives deep into a subject and responds directly;
at others, it maintains a quiet distance to offer a new perspective. This dynamic of engagement and detachment reflects two essential ways in which contemporary art relates to society.
Like the rising and receding tides, art sometimes comes close — and at other times, it withdraws. The tide may seem to cover everything, but the ebb reveals what was hidden beneath.
This movement is not just a physical phenomenon, but a way of revealing and concealing, inviting the viewer to search for meaning within.
This open call, under the theme “Rising and Receding,” asks how art operates at varying distances from society, daily life, emotion, memory, and technology.
2 Artists of the Year (an individual or group)
● Benefits for the Winner(s) : 2 people or teams
- The Winner(s) of the Year (an individual or group) will have the opportunity to participate in a residency program for 12 weeks between September and November 2025, or between March and May 2026, in Jeungdo, Shinan, South Jeolla Province, South Korea.
(Residency period is adjustable upon mutual agreement.)
- The artworks of the winner(s) will be exhibited at the Salt Museum near the residence.
- The winner(s) will be rewarded 5,000,000 KRW (before tax) as an artist fee, and 1,200,000 KRW (before tax) for supplies cost, along with 1,500,000 KRW (before tax) for living expenses.
- Travel expenses will also be supported for international participants: up to 1,200,000 KRW for those traveling from Europe, the Americas, or Africa, and up to 800,000 KRW for those from Asia (before tax, the proof of airfare is required).

• Submit the ONLY PDF (horizontal, in English) file with your CV, artist statement, and 10~20 images of your artwork (including the info: title, year, dimension, and material) in the google form.
• Your artist statement should include your intended project during the residency in Jeungdo.
• For video work(s), please include the still image(s) with a hyperlink on the PDF.
• NO ENTRY FEE.

The winner(s) of the submission will be notified after June 20th, 2025.
