Descripción de la Exposición

CCA Andratx se complace en presentar la exposición de Ulrik Heltoft y Ebbe Stub Wittrup. Clear Water on Both Sides of the Glass es la primera colaboración entre los dos artistas y ha sido creada específicamente para el CCA Andratx, y en ella se presentará una nueva serie de obras. La exposición marca el encuentro de las obras de ambos artistas, que a pesar haber desarrollado prácticas individuales, sus motivaciones artísticas encuentran muchos puntos en común. En este sentido, el eje conceptual de la exposición se centra en la exploración de la percepción individual, destacando la transformación del espacio y dando como resultado un ejercicio desafiante de las capacidades perceptivas del espectador. Con el objetivo de poner en práctica la memoria del observador, el gran espacio de la CCA Gallery estará dividido por una cortina de veinte metros, creando dos secciones diagonales, que forman una especie de espejo entre los ... artistas. A ambos lados de la cortina hay colocados objetos e imágenes a una distancia equidistante, que no se podrán ver al mismo tiempo. De esta manera, cada obra recordará aparentemente a la que hay al otro lado de la cortina. Parecerá la misma, pero no es igual. Es como si estuviésemos en un juego, en el que se le pide al espectador que memorice una serie de objetos debajo de un paño y luego se vuelven a tapar. ¿Qué viste? ¿Qué falta? ¿Cuál es diferente? Al crear una ilusión con patrones simétricos, la exposición hará hincapié en las habilidades del espectador y evidenciará realidad de la percepción y de cómo se enseña culturalmente a ver. Ulrik Heltoft (*1973, Svendborg, Dinamarca) vive y trabaja en Copenhague. Su trabajo ha sido presentado en exposiciones individuales como Kabinet en el Wiener Secession, Viena en 2014; Aarhus Kunstbygning en 2012, así como en un gran número de exposiciones colectivas internacionales, incluyendo Magazin4 Bregenzer Kunstverein, Museo Whitney de Arte Americano en Nueva York, Nicolaj Kunsthal de Copenhague y la MHKA en Amberes. Ebbe Stub Wittrup (* 1973, Aarhus, Dinamarca) vive y trabaja en Copenhague. Su obra ha sido objeto de una serie de exposiciones internacionales individuales. En 2016, Quote from an Unknown Philosopher, Kunsthalle de Sao Paulo y Figures of Perception, Kunstverein Braunschweig. En 2014, The Third Room, en ARoS Aarhus Kunstmuseum y en 2013 Presumed Reality, Museo Kirchner en Davos. También ha participado en varias exposiciones colectivas, incluyendo Overgaden, Institute for Samtidskunst, Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Sorø Kunsmuseum, Nicolaj Kunsthal y ARKEN Museum of Modern Art. ______ CCA Andratx presents the two-person show featuring works by Ulrik Heltoft and Ebbe Stub Wittrup. Clear Water on Both Sides of the Glass is the first collaboration by the artists and has been created especially for the CCA Kunsthalle, where a series of new art pieces will be presented. The exhibition marks the encounter of both artists' works, which despite individual practices, meet in common points of artistic motivation. In this sense, the conceptual axis of the exhibition focuses on the exploration of individual perception, highlighting the space transformation and resulting in a challenging performance of the viewer's perceptual abilities. By bringing attention to memory exercise, the large space of the CCA Kunsthalle is divided by a 20-meter curtain, creating two diagonal sections, forming a kind-of mirror-like representation of the two artists. On both sides of the curtain objects and images are equally placed, which can't be visually seen at the same time, however, each work recalls the memory of what is seemingly on the other side. What looks alike but is not the same at all. As in a mind-game where the viewer is asked to memorize a number of objects that are revealed from under a cloth and then recovered. "What did you see? What is missing? What is different?" By creating illusion of symmetrical patterns, the show will underscore the viewer's skills bringing to light how reality is perceived and how it is culturally taught to be seen. The exhibition is supported by the Danish Arts Foundation. Ulrik Heltoft (*1973, Svendborg, Denmark) lives and works in Copenhagen.
