Descripción de la Exposición
Eduardo Capilla's "Intringulis" presented in the gallery two, is the third solo show by the artist with Dot Fiftyone.
The Intríngulis, portrayed abstractly, where Capilla's first forays into his investigation on visual language.
Created between 1979 and 1983, they were then distributed for free on to the public. Each production would consist of 40 to 70 pieces, which would be handed to random people on the street, with no verbal explanation and with no additional information on the piece itself.
In those days the country (Argentina) was fully under a military dictatorship, and the spreading and disseminating leaflets with philosophical or political ideas was an illegal act with severe punishment. The Intríngulis, being an existential interrogation or a labyrinth to individuality, were presented by only expressing itself in the visually abstract (this making it look innocent, considering the social situation), and referring to the cultural urgency for more methods of thinking and comprehension other than the words of demagogues and dictators.
Nowadays, with the social unrest and political changes happening, one can again see the relevance of this work, expressed in plastic terms. They are an archetype of the will to self revelation and of the revelation of oneself.
Now for the very first time, at the Dot Fiftyone Gallery in Miami, the Intríngulis will be exposed on a gallery wall. These pieces will be exhibiting their evolution and troubles, as well and their unique individuality; each a self contained work part of a bigger storyline.
