Marcel Pedragosa's photographs from the series Parisii depict Parisians in their urban environment. While the term Parisii refers to Paris' original inhabitants, today's Parisians are, according to Marcel Pedragosa's point of view, comparable to traces of light, energies, met at random during his strolls through the city. The portraits of these figures in black and white inscribe themselves in their immediate environment as they move around the city, some elements of which can at times be identified.
Moving shadows and portraits, the characters seem to leave their trace behind but also to hold their ancient history within. Marcel Pedragosa's free exploration is expressed through a mastered blur of the bodies moving through space. Appearances, disappearances, floating moments captured within a formal composition, allow for an open perception of the subject. Their aesthetics and distinctive angles are typically representative of Marcel Pedragos's personal vision of his own environment.
