«Our Call for Books ended yesterday, the fourth edition of the initiative that wants to host the best dummies - author books - and promote contemporary authors and works. We received about 150 books, coming from all parts of the world, highlighting Brasil, China, Japan, Iran and several European countries.
A selection of the 50 best will be presented to the public in an exhibition dedicated to books, at Casa Esperança, during Encontros da Imagem that runs until 5 November. From this selection three winners will be decided by an international jury, consisting of: Dieter Neubert, co-founder and director of the Kassel Photobook Festival and founder of Photobook Dummy Awards, Kassel, Germany; Frank Kalero Curator and Independent Editor São Paulo, Brasil; Moritz Neumuller, independent curator and Captain of Curator Ship, Barcelona, Spain; and Walter Costa, editor, researcher and founder of TRAMA, also in São Paulo, Brasil.
The elected books will be awarded...with publishing/printing prizes sponsored by Koy Lab, a national printing laboratory established in Braga for over 40 years. The winners will also be promoted on our website and social networks.
In addition to the result of the Call for Books, the Photobook Market that will be located at, permanently throughout the festival, Casa Esperança also includes the EI Books Fair, consisting of books from Encontros da Imagem's partner publishers.
This year's winners of the Dummy Award Kassel, a section of Fotobookfestival Kassel, the only festival entirely dedicated to Photography books, will also be presented. On tour in Europe, they'll travel from Oslo to Braga, to join this edition of the Festival, then on to Paris.
There has been an increasing interest in our PhotoBook Market where, besides the sections already listed, will also have merchandising and publishing materials from the latest editions of the Encontros da Imagem.
