Descripción de la Exposición
Since the beginning of his career Emmanuel Nassar works with elements associated with Brazilian popular tradition and inserts them into his work. Although his generation has been influenced by Pop and constructive art, the artist works with these languages in a very unique way.
This intervention in KUBIKULO, originated from a series of works in which the artist used fragments of metal plates, wood, irons and flour sieves, collected in popular fairs of Belém city where he was born, in the north of Brazil.
In "Trapioca101," the artist applies the word "Trap," associated with the Brazilian word “tapioca” which functions as a poetic license, a trap of gaze.
Emmanuel Nassar was born in 1949 and lives and works in São Paulo, Brazil. The artist exhibited at the 20th and 24th Biennials of São Paulo, won the Grand Prize of the 6th Cuenca Biennial and participated in the 45th Venice Biennale. His work is in the collections of the University Essex Museum (England), Cisneros Foundation - Collection Patricia Phelps de Cisneros (New York / Caracas), Marcantonio Vilaça, MAM - Museum of Modern Art of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, Museum of Contemporary Art of Niterói and São Paulo, Museum of the State of Pará, among others.
