I've never been able to sleep well but in recent years the situation got really complicated, I started spending sleepless nights, which caused that daytime reality appear before me like a movie, sleep and fatigue had me completely disconnected from reality. The doctor prescribed me Rivotril, a renowned sleeping aid but actually quite outdated. The clonazepam (the active substance) produces drowsiness, dizziness and psychological difficulties in motor coordination, so even though I slept pretty well, during the day I was still disconnected from the world.

The other day reading over the side effects I found indications of a drug called rivotril although there aren't no exact studies, an alleged reaction of this drug is anhedonia. Anhedonia is the inability to experience pleasure, a loss of interest or satisfaction in almost all activities. It is considered a lack of reactivity to ... usually pleasurable stimuli.

In 1976 L. Chapman and M. Raulin proposed two scales, known as 'Chapman scales' for the assessment of anhedonia: 1 the scale for physical anhedonia and 2 the scale for social anhedonia. The Revised Scale for Physical Anhedonia is a self-applied test of 61 questions that assesses the ability to experience pleasure stimuli. Typical physical pleasure, such as food, touch, sex, etc. with questions such as 'The beautiful sets I've always liked.'

The questionnaire fascinated me, I was amazed at the idea that you could measure somehow the way you feel or not feel pleasure. Then I began to work on the artworks for the exhibition, each work refers to an experience associated with pleasure, from the best known but not a simply aesthetic enjoyment, to the retinal vibration that is generated by our senses of pleasure produced by a colorful object or an object with an attractive surface. Other works allude to the sense of humor: intelligent humor, silly humor, and black humor. Others speak directly about love and desire, or the pleasure that is generated from experiencing music.

This disconnect with reality was caused first by the dream and then by the effect of rivotril towards that question (as in the questionnaire L. Chapman) on how and how much pleasure I generated from my relationship with the outside world. The pieces are my own questionnaire, they are the tests that I put myself to know and measure my connection to the world.
