Descripción de la Exposición

Mayoral presents the exhibition "Dau al Brossa" in collaboration with the Joan Brossa Foundation and curated by its director, Glòria Bordons. The show has also had the participation of Arnau Puig, philosopher and art critic of the Dau al Set group, and last witness of the artistic movement, and other specialists. The exhibition includes a careful selection of poems and stage projects created by Joan Brossa during his Dau al Set period, as well as other pieces influenced by this decisive stage in his production, among which there are object and visual poems as Porró amb daus (Porró with Dice) and Contra l'atzar (Against Chance). The exhibition includes a series of works by other renowned artists, such as Miró, Tàpies, Ponç and Cuixart, who had a very close, personal and professional relationship with the artist throughout his life. This selection of works includes engravings by Ponç and an unpublished pieces by Cuixart, accompanied by texts written by Joan Brossa. The relationship between the artists is complemented by their mutual correspondence and some joint projects for the magazine Dau al Set. As part of the exhibition's, and within the context of the LOOP Festival, the film by Joan Brossa and Frederic Amat Foc al càntir (Fire in the Water Jug), whose script was written in 1948 at the height of Dau al Set, will be screened. Several educational activities are also programmed, and finally the Mayoral gallery will participate in one of the routes organized by the Joan Brossa Foundation on the 11th June. All the documents are included in the online catalogue produced for the exhibition. "Dau al Brossa highlights the importance of the Catalan poet Joan Brossa in the genesis and development of Dau al Set, both through his collaborations in the magazine and through the dialogues he established between the works of the group's three painters and those of Joan Miró, the master of them all. The show is rounded off with a conversation within Brossa's own poetic output: the spirit and the poems of the Dau al Set period dialogue with the works he created during the 1980s, "weaving a thread always present in the poet's production."- says, Glòria Bordons (curator of the exhibition and director of the Brossa Foundation). "After the shows "Tàpies Solo Show" (2014), "Joan Ponç. L'enigma" (2015), "Cuixart. Experimental Geometry" (2016), "Joan Brossa. A scene. Brossian Characters" (2015) and "The Tharrats Dau al Set" the exhibition running currently in Verdú, we are thrilled to complete this cycle dedicated to Dau al Set with "Dau al Brossa" centered on the visual poet and inventor of the magazine's name. This exhibition aims to promote the figure of one of the most important artists of our cultural scene; to defend and recover his artistic contribution at an international level", declares, Jordi Mayoral.
