On May 24th, at 6PM, Kubikgallery (Rua da Restauração nº6, Porto) opens the exhibiiton >e(c(o< by Pedro Tudela.
“> e(c(o <“ is an exhibition of recent work by Pedro Tudela that brings together sculptural objects, sound sculpture, drawings and photographs. In this series of works, the author questions the capability of the place (site) to become into something else, being by the relation of the plan in space (facts that follow one another), but also by comparison, that we naturally make, between two or more unequal quantities.
Of the compound terns:
(eco)-logy, - word, discourse, language, study, theory
(echo)-graphy, - writing, registration, study
(eco)-nomy, - rule, law, use
(eco)-system, - set, group, combination
... or simply of the target: (echo)
- Repetition of a sound resent by one body.
- Reverberated sound
- Unclear sound
- Gathering of the intermittences between two sound limits.
- Imitation or repetition.
- Memory or trace.
are matters that group, relates and confronts to shape the work that he now exhibits.
Pedro Tudela (1962, Viseu, Portugal).
He finished his Degree in Paitings at Escola Superior de Belas Artes do Porto (ESBAP) in 1987. Auxiliary Professor at Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP). As a student at ESBAP, he was founder of Grupo Missionário: organized national and international painting, postal art and performance. Pedro participates in several performance festivals insce 1982. He was the author and host of the radio programs escolhe um dedo e atmosfera reduzida on xfm, between 1995 and 1996. In 1992, because of the show “Mute ... life”, he starts the multimedia collective Mute Life dept. [MLd]. Tudela got interested in sound production in 1992, having participated in concerts, performances and record productions in Portugal and abroad. Cofounder and one of the elements of the multidisciplinary and digital music project @c. Founding member of media label Crónica. Pedro works in scenography since 2003. He has been exhibiting regularly since 1981 and has been participating in numerous collective exhibitions in Portugal and abroad since the beginning of the 1980’s. His work is represented in museums, public and private collections. He lives and works in Porto.
